17. Building Trust, Repairing Lives: The Entrepreneurial Journey of Limamatsung & Akumtemsu
Limamatsung (34, 10th pass) and Akumtemsu B. Jamir (28, 10th pass), both residents of Aoyimkum Village under Dimapur District, represent a powerful example of how skill development can translate into ethical entrepreneurship and community impact.
In November 2025, they successfully completed training in AC & Refrigerator Repair from Pinnacle Skills, Sematila Centre, Dimapur, under the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM). With limited formal education but strong determination, they entered a technical field that is increasingly in demand across both urban and semi-urban households.
Soon after their training, the duo chose not to remain job seekers, instead, they became job creators. Partnering together, they established their own service initiative under the name “L&A Appliance Services”, offering repair and maintenance services for air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines.
What distinguishes their enterprise is not just technical capability, but a strong sense of ethics and customer responsibility. In a market where customers are often misled into unnecessary expenses, particularly through unjustified gas refilling in cooling appliances, Limamatsung and Akumtemsu have built their reputation on transparency and honesty. They educate their clients that gas refilling is only required in cases of actual leakage or damage, thereby protecting households from avoidable costs.
Understanding the financial limitations of many families, they go a step further by sourcing reusable and repairable components from scrap dealers, ensuring that appliances can be fixed at affordable rates rather than replaced entirely. This approach not only reduces costs for customers but also promotes a culture of resource efficiency and sustainability.
Within a short span after completing their 40-day training, the team has already demonstrated tangible impact, successfully repairing over 4 air conditioners and numerous servicing, 20 refrigerators, and 15 washing machines. Their growing credibility is reflected in positive feedback from satisfied clients, including validation from community members such as the local Youth Pastor of Aoyimkum, who has publicly acknowledged their quality of service.
Today, Limamatsung and Akumtemsu are earning a stable livelihood through their services, operating across Dimapur and responding to service requests from surrounding areas. Their journey reflects not just income generation, but the emergence of grassroots entrepreneurship rooted in trust, skill, and community service.
Looking ahead, they aspire to formalize their enterprise and scale their operations. With continued mentoring support from NSEDM and access to financial assistance through schemes like CMMFI, they are well-positioned to expand their business, generate employment, and contribute to the local service economic.

18. Returning Home, Rebuilding with Skill: The Journey of Pushong Chainyuhm
Pushong Chainyuhm, a 36-year-old resident of Chumoukedima and a native of Noklak District, reflects the journey of many experienced workers who return home seeking renewed purpose and sustainable livelihoods. A 12th pass individual, Pushong spent over 15 years working across cities like Bangalore and Delhi, gaining exposure to different work environments before making the conscious decision to return to Nagaland in 2023 to rebuild his life closer to his family.
Currently residing with his wife and son in a rented house near Patkai College, Pushong initially started a small daily needs retail shop along the four-lane highway to support his household income. However, like many micro-entrepreneurs, sustaining a stable and growing income remained a challenge.
Recognizing the need to upgrade his skills and diversify his livelihood opportunities, Pushong enrolled in Electrification & Plumbing training at Pinnacle Skills under the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM). This decision marked a significant turning point in his journey.
Post-training, Pushong reports a marked increase in his confidence and technical ability in handling electrical equipment and undertaking wiring and connection work. What was once an unfamiliar domain has now become a practical skill he can apply in real-life situations.
He has already begun to see tangible outcomes. Within his neighborhood, Pushong has taken up small electrical repair and wiring jobs, earning additional income and gradually building trust within his community. One such instance involved assisting a neighbor in resolving electrical wiring issues, an effort that not only solved a local problem but also validated his newly acquired skills through paid service.
Further strengthening his practical exposure, Pushong is currently working as an apprentice under an experienced electrician, assisting in electrification work for building projects. This mentorship is enabling him to refine his skills on-site while positioning him for larger opportunities. He is also expecting to be engaged in an upcoming house electrification project, which will provide him with deeper hands-on experience and income stability.
Importantly, Pushong has also taken proactive steps toward entrepreneurship. He participated in the Enterprise Readiness Support Workshop (ERSW) conducted by NSEDM in Kohima, where he gained insights into enterprise development, financial linkages, and government support systems designed to assist individuals in transitioning toward self-employment.

19. From Setback to Stability: Rebuilding Life Through Skill – The Story of P. Khuno
P. Khuno, a 22-year-old youth originally from Noklak and currently residing in a rented accommodation in Chumoukedima with his siblings, reflects the lived reality of many young individuals navigating financial hardship and uncertain career pathways.
A 12th pass student, Khuno was pursuing his undergraduate studies at Salt Christian College. However, in 2025, during his third year, he was compelled to discontinue his education due to severe financial constraints within his family. This abrupt disruption not only halted his academic journey but also left him without a clear pathway to employment.
In the months that followed, Khuno actively sought job opportunities. Despite his efforts, the absence of formal qualifications and market-relevant skills prevented him from securing employment. With limited financial means, even enrolling in paid skill training programs was beyond his reach. This prolonged period of uncertainty and rejection took a toll on his mental well-being, pushing him into a phase of deep distress.
In search of emotional recovery, Khuno spent time at a local prayer center, where a chance interaction became a turning point in his life. He learned about the free skill training programs offered under the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), an opportunity that he immediately chose to pursue.
Enrolling in Electrification & Plumbing training at Pinnacle Skills, Khuno underwent structured, hands-on training that equipped him with practical technical knowledge and industry-relevant competencies. For the first time, he found a pathway that connected learning directly with livelihood.
Upon successful completion of his training, Khuno secured employment as an electrical technician with A&D Solar Enterprise. Today, he earns a starting salary of ₹10,000 per month, marking a significant transition from unemployment to financial independence.
Beyond income, Khuno has regained a sense of purpose and direction. His supervisor has expressed satisfaction with his performance, noting his technical capability, discipline, and the seriousness with which he approaches his work. His determination to rebuild his life through skill and hard work stands as a testament to the transformative power of targeted interventions.

20. From Informal Skill to Emerging Enterprise: The Story of Samrangbe
Samrangbe, a 10th pass trainee from Jalukie B under Peren District, exemplifies how structured skill development can unlock not just individual livelihoods, but community-level economic activity. Living with his wife and young son, Samrangbe carried the responsibility of ensuring a stable and sustainable income for his family.
Prior to enrolling under the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), he had limited, informal exposure to electrification work. However, the absence of formal training meant that his understanding of electrical systems, safety standards, and load management remained incomplete, restricting both the scale and reliability of his work.
Through comprehensive training in Electrification & Plumbing, Samrangbe underwent a significant transformation. He is now equipped with technical expertise to accurately assess electrical requirements, calculate voltage and wattage, and select appropriate devices based on the load and capacity of buildings. This shift from informal knowledge to certified skill has enabled him to take on projects with greater confidence and professionalism.
What sets Samrangbe apart is his transition from a skilled individual to a budding entrepreneur. Recognizing the growing demand for electrification services in and around Jalukie, he proactively formed a team of local youth, whom he is personally mentoring and training with the technical knowledge he acquired. This initiative has not only strengthened his own work capacity but has also created livelihood opportunities for others in his community.
Together with his team, Samrangbe has successfully completed multiple electrification projects and has secured additional work at upcoming construction sites across Peren District, demonstrating both market demand and his growing reputation.
In a remarkable display of commitment and foresight, Samrangbe made a personal investment decision by selling his scooty to purchase an auto-rickshaw. This has enabled him to transport his team and tools efficiently to various work sites, improving productivity and coordination—an early indicator of enterprise-level thinking.
Furthermore, he has been sensitized to government support mechanisms such as CMMFI and ERSW, which can provide the necessary financial and institutional backing to scale his operations into a formal enterprise. With continued handholding, Samrangbe has the potential to evolve into a local contractor, generating sustained employment and contributing to the skilled workforce ecosystem in Nagaland.

21. Transforming Skills into Dignity: The Journey of Echunbemo Y. Lotha
Echunbemo Y. Lotha, an 8th pass trainee from Wokha District, represents the silent yet powerful transformation that targeted skill development interventions can bring to grassroots communities. A resident of Wokha Village, he lives with his wife and young daughter, striving to build a stable and dignified livelihood for his family.
Before enrolling under the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), Echunbemo possessed basic, informal experience in electrification, having assisted friends in small local projects. However, like many in rural areas, his knowledge lacked technical depth, standardization, and formal recognition—limiting his ability to secure consistent and higher-value work.
Through structured training in Electrification & Plumbing, Echunbemo gained not only technical proficiency but also a deeper conceptual understanding of electrical systems, appropriate tools, and safety standards aligned with project requirements. This transition from informal skill to certified competency has significantly enhanced his confidence and credibility in the local market.
Today, Echunbemo takes pride in being a certified professional. Shortly after completing his training, he successfully undertook electrification work for a new construction project in his neighborhood, marking a tangible step toward economic independence.
Previously dependent on driving an auto-rickshaw as a part-time source of income, often inconsistent and unreliable, he now aspires to establish electrification as his primary occupation. He recognizes it as a more stable, respectable, and financially rewarding livelihood option.
Importantly, Echunbemo has also been oriented towards enterprise development opportunities, including access to financial support mechanisms such as CMMFI loans. With the right support, he envisions transitioning from a skilled worker to a micro-entrepreneur, capable of generating not only self-employment but also local job opportunities.

22. Upgrading Skills, Expanding Enterprise: The Journey of Moiten Phom
Moiten Phom, an 8th pass entrepreneur from Longleng District, represents the spirit of self-reliance and continuous learning among grassroots business owners. After returning from Dimapur in 2023, where he had been associated with a ministry, Moiten chose to establish his own livelihood back home by setting up a small electronic and electrical appliance repair shop in Longleng.
Through his enterprise, he began servicing a range of household items including inverters, mobile phones, cookers, and other electrical appliances. While his shop provided a steady foundation, Moiten recognized a growing demand in the market for air conditioner and refrigerator repair services, a segment he was not yet equipped to handle.
Driven by the desire to expand his business, he explored training opportunities to upgrade his skills. However, the high cost of private training programs and the requirement to travel as far as Kolkata made it financially unviable for him at the time. This barrier reflects a common challenge faced by rural entrepreneurs seeking to diversify their skill sets.
A turning point came when Moiten learned about the free skill training programs offered under the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM). Seizing the opportunity, he enrolled in AC & Refrigerator Repair training at Pinnacle Skills and successfully completed the course.
The impact of this training has been immediate and tangible. Moiten has now integrated refrigerator repair services into his existing business, enabling him to attract a broader customer base and increase footfall to his shop. By diversifying his services, he has strengthened both his income potential and business sustainability.
Looking ahead, Moiten is motivated to further expand his enterprise. He plans to invest in additional tools, procure inventory, and improve the interior setup of his shop to enhance service delivery and customer experience. However, scaling his business requires financial support.
Encouragingly, Moiten has been oriented toward government-backed support mechanisms such as the CMMFI loan scheme, and has received guidance on how NSEDM can provide handholding support in accessing financial assistance and formalizing his enterprise.
